Women in Wind Summer Soirée

SRH Law is pleased to be the continued Community Sponsor of the Greater Burlington Women’s Forum (GBWF), a nonprofit organization committed to facilitating inspiring, informative opportunities for women to connect. On July 18th the GBWF in partnership with the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center is hosting their 6th annual Women in the Wind Soirée.

This popular fundraising event offers recreation on Lake Champlain of and a “mini expo” of local recreational and educational organizations, including biking, hiking, climbing and more.  This soiree offers sailboats, paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and yoga GBWF hosts monthly lunches that provide time and space for women to connect and walk away with useful tools, information and inspiration.

GBWF facilitates gatherings for women to build their personal or professional support networks, and develop leadership skills. They aspire to engage women across multiple spheres of their lives— including self-development and care, family, work & local community roles, and larger state, national and global issues.

SRH Law is proud to be the community sponsor of the Greater Burlington Women’s Forum, and to support this organization in connecting women and advancing a values led economy.

Vermont Paralegal Day

Governor Phil Scott acknowledged Vermont paralegals in a proclamation celebrating their important work to coincide with the Vermont Paralegal Organization’s (VPO) annual meeting on May 15, 2019.  Dunkiel Saunders’ practice manager and paralegal Lucia White was reelected as president of the VPO at this meeting.  Dunkiel Saunders’ paralegal Melinda Siel also serves the organization as bylaws chair.

The VPO is a statewide, volunteer-based organization dedicated to providing paralegal education and promoting paralegal professionalism and leadership.  Their purpose is to establish and maintain high standards of education, conduct, and integrity among paralegals and to advance and promote the paralegal profession, as well as to facilitate communication within the Vermont paralegal community and within local, state, and national bar organizations.  

SRH Law appreciates Governor Scott’s recognition in the proclamation of the role of paralegals in the legal field and the opportunity it provides to recognize our paralegals for their dedication to quality and efficient work.  We are also proud of the dedication Lucia and Melinda show to the advancement and connectivity of paralegals in Vermont.  As a mission-based law firm, our work to support our clients who share our commitment to making a difference in their communities and the broader world would not be possible without our exemplary paralegals.

14th Star Brewing Founder Wins Small Business Person of the Year

Vermont Business Magazine, along with the US Small Business Administration (SBA), has named Steve Gagner from 14th Star Brewing as Small Business Person of the Year.  This award will be presented at the 2019 SBA Awards on June 13th at the Country Club of Vermont in Waterbury.

There are several other distinguished awards given out at this ceremony, including Exporter of the Year, Woman-Owned Business of the Year, Family-Owned Business of the Year, Minority-Owned Business of the Year, Microenterprise of the Year, and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Steve Gagner conceptualized his St. Albans-based business while on tour in Afghanistan, and describes 14th Star as “a veteran-owned Vermont craft brewery on a mission to brew world-class beer while enriching our community.”  14th Star Brewing has the unique distinction of being SRH Law’ 1000th client, to whom we continue to provide trademark and intellectual property services.

SRH Law to Sponsor Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility’s Annual Conference

SRH Law is proud to be a sponsor of the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility’s (VBSR), 29th annual conference held May 15, 2019 at UVM’s Davis Center.  VBSR is a statewide, nonprofit business association, whose mission is to foster a business ethic in Vermont that recognizes the opportunity and responsibility of the business community to set a high standard for protecting the natural, human, and economic environments of our citizens.

SRH Law is honored to support the work of nonprofits, B-Corps, benefit corporations and L3Cs, renewable energy developers, and inventors and entrepreneurs.  Our shared goal of advancing a values-led economy will help ensure a lasting impact.

SRH Law Sponsors 30th Annual KidSafe Collaborative Awards Luncheon

SRH Law was pleased to sponsor the 30th annual KidSafe Collaborative Awards Luncheon on April 4 at the Doubletree.  The awards honor outstanding individuals and groups in the community who have made a significant contribution to improving the safety and well-being of children in Chittenden County.

SRH Law attorney Jon Rose and practice manager/paralegal Lucia White both volunteer with the organization, which helps to coordinate and improve the community’s response to prevent child abuse and neglect.  The event featured a silent auction, with items donated from many local businesses, the proceeds of which benefitted KidSafe.  SRH Law is happy to celebrate the achievements of community members who help make a difference.

SRH Law named one of 2019 Best Places to Work in Vermont

SRH Law is thrilled to announce that we have been named one of the 2019 Best Places to Work in Vermont.This twelfth annual list was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Vermont State Council, and the Best Companies Group.

The Best Places to Work in Vermontis a survey and awards program with a dual purpose—to identify the best places to work in the state and to provide employee feedback to the companies who register for the survey. Companies considered for this survey and awards program have been in business for a minimum of one year, have at least 15 employees, and operate a facility in Vermont. Applicants can be a business or a government agency, for- or non-profit, and publicly or privately held.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Vermont, comprising of an evaluation ofworkplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics followed by an employee survey which provides valuable feedback to the company. The Greater Burlington Women’s Forum is an open group of women with a shared interest in the promotion of women to leadership who gather regularly for an inspiring educational program and an opportunity to connect with other women in the Burlington community.

SRH Law is proud to be their Community Sponsor and to help promote their next event, Where Have all The Women Gone? #WomenInTech, happening Thursday, November 15 from 12-1:30 pm in Contois Auditorium in Burlington City Hall. The event is part of a series that takes place during the lunch hour every other month at City Hall.

Come listen to a panel of professional women in technology careers tell their stories. Find out how they got where they are today, what some of the obstacles were along the way, and how they overcame those obstacles. Engage in conversation about what it means to be a woman in tech and what it takes to get there. Bring a lunch, listen, learn, share, and network with women in our community.
